Green tea (Camellia sinensis) is the easiest supplement to add to an existing hair loss regimen. It is widely available, relatively inexpensive, and has very limited side effects.

Green tea is very popular, not just as an herbal drink, but as a natural  treatment  for many common disorders. Green tea is known for its positive effects on rheumatoid arthritis, asthma, high cholesterol, peripheral vascular disease, and coronary artery disease.

(It should be noted that green tea by itself will not necessarily cure or prevent any of these illnesses. An experienced physician should be consulted if you experience any symptoms related to the above diseases)

In regards to hair loss, green tea has two distinct benefits:

1) Green tea contains many cathechins, which may aid in cardiovascular activity and enhance microcapillary circulation to hair follicles.

2) Green tea also has a high concentration of sex hormone binding globulin (SHBG). SHBG molecules bind to testosterone, reducing its capacity to bind to other molecules. Therefore, testosterone bound to SBHG is no longer bioactive and cannot attach to androgen receptors or be converted into dihydrotestosterone (DHT). This decrease in DHT ultimately yields a decrease in hair loss.
